About me
Kate Standley BSc. DIET (US), PENG (QMU)
I studied Dietetics in South Africa and worked in the Community for a year before heading to the UK to further my studies. I was fortunate to work across the UK in various roles & finished in Bristol Heart Hospital in Critical Care. I realised after 4 years in Critical care that so many of the conditions of lifestyle I was seeing could be avoided if we could just educate individuals on the role of nutrition. I made a move into private practice and fell in love with preventative care. Food plays a central role in everyone’s life and I enjoy helping people find that positive relationship with food. I feel fortunate to work in a field that I’m passionate about. The daily interactions with clients, building on their basic knowledge & helping them design healthier lifestyles is really rewarding and I feel privileged to do so. Food was designed to be enjoyed, not feared. I believe food can be healthy, low fuss & tasty!
I have gained a wealth of first world experience and will consult on (this list is not exhaustive):
Diabetes Mellitus & Insulin Resistance
The amazing thing about my career is that it’s far from boring! I have been fortunate enough to move through various roles within dietetics, including community, hospital, private and corporate work. As a result I have a wide range of interests.
